Dion Byas
Since joining Swanbury Penglase in 2000, Dion’s experience covers a broad range of projects, with expertise in the education sector a particular passion since his three children started school. As a member of Learning Environments Australasia, Dion attends conferences to expand his knowledge on education. Dion sits on the Governing Council of Colonel Light Gardens Primary School and chairs their Grounds Committee.
Dion has an interest in the reuse and adaption of existing buildings and the marriage of old and new architecture. He finds the South Australian climate and local resources a constant source of inspiration and direction in design. Dion believes architecture should be strongly tied to the community and ‘spirit of place’ through an understanding of site and a good urban design framework.
Outside the office Dion is a keen runner, epitomising his competitive nature.
