Dover Street Reserve

The Dover Street Reserve redevelopment integrates stormwater detention infrastructure with inclusive recreation spaces to increase the community of Blair Athol’s connection to quality public open space and health and wellbeing.

The design required the closing of a local road to incorporate the proposed space with Adelaide Victory Football Club’s existing grounds and clubrooms to create an expansive and integrated open green space for the community. Recreation facilities include a halfcourt basketball and netball court, small ledges and rails for learning to skate or scooter, a BBQ area, and a wide variety of play equipment including slides, swings and climbing structures. For users interested in discovery, there are over 40 gecko carvings throughout the reserve, with a network of accessible paths allowing ease of circulation throughout the space.

Community engagement for the project commenced in 2018, with a large contingent of the public contributing ideas and ambitions for the space. The engagement process proved to be invaluable in helping deliver a space which will be a valued asset among the community of Blair Athol, which contributes to the health and wellbeing of the local residents, whilst also integrating flood prevention infrastructure into a flood prone area.
